RG without Tati this year...
According to various sources, including eurosport.fr, L'Equipe.fr and others, Tati withdrew from the tournament this afternoon. She has been on the courts of Roland Garros since the beginning of the week, working with Georges Goven and testing whether her injured (or to be more precise, problematic) ankle could withstand the physical strain. Obviously this is not the case, so even though she was still in doubt yesterday, she eventually made this painful decision to withdraw from her beloved tournament today. This should be officially announced tomorrow at 4:30 PM during a press conference.
Although most of her fans would probably love to see her in action again, I think it is a wise decision, even more so when we take into account the amount of practice she has had recently. Moreover, since her clay season is over now, this will give her more time to adapt to grass - the surface she has not played on since the last Wimbledon. So let us hope she recovers soon and has enough time to get ready for Birmingham, the next tournament on her schedule. Get well soon Tati! :)
