Wildcard for Strasbourg!
Pierre Staller, the tournament director of Internationaux de Strasbourg (21st - 27th May) confirmed yesterday that Tatiana had applied for a Wild Card to take part in the tournament.
The director of this Tier III event stated that on the official web pages, saying that our young Frenchwoman was the second highest-ranked player to enter the venue, following the number one seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, currently ranked no. 7 in the world. However, things may change very quickly as there is also a slight possibility that Amélie Mauresmo and Maria Sharapova would enter the tournament as well. On the other hand, both players (numbers 3 and 2 in the world respectively) have been recently recovering from long-lasting health problems and their attendance at a Tier III event seems rather improbable, although the Russian might want to get some practise on clay before Roland Garros.
Anyway, if Tatiana remains the no. 2 seed, she will stand a very good chance of reaching the finals there or even winning the tournament, which would be undoubtedly a huge boost to her self-confidence just a week before RG. Let us hope she remains healthy and gets ready for Paris!;)
